Summer Projects

I have been busy painting. Really busy. I have a whole garage full of projects that are almost complete. They just need a knob here or a coat of wax there. My chalk paint finally arrived and I'll have lots to share about that soon. But right now I'm trying to stay focused on preparing for our two summer projects. I am not actually doing either of these projects thank goodness, but they both require a good bit of planning, decision making and ordering of materials - whew!

The first project involves major landscaping. There will be another set of stone steps just like these.

You see them often. They are my favorite photo spot.

The vegetable garden is coming out and there will be a series of raised beds.

Quite a few of these big guys are coming down. Look out!

There will be a new stone wall to replace the old timbers. The chipmunks will be quite disappointed!

My landscaper keeps correcting me. The wall will not be made of stones. They will be boulders, bigger than these that we have in our front yard.

Ok, boulders, giant rocks, whatever. Can't wait to get started!

The second summer project involves a new guest bathroom. This is pretty much the last room of our house that has never been renovated in the 27 years we've lived here. Believe me, it's sad! So I've been selecting cabinets and countertops.

And pretty shiny new faucets. Kim in the plumbing department at Lowes is my new best friend.

And after lots and lots of searching, today I finally found and fell in love with this pretty tile for the shower. It's a combination of glass and stone.

It blends perfectly with the countertop and the really cool floor tile I found.

It looks like wood, but it's tile. Perfect for the bathroom. Ever notice how many of the bathroom photos in the Pottery Barn and Restoration catalogs have wood floors? Really pretty, but not very practical. This is the solution!

I've even picked the paint color. Now I just need to order the tub and toilet. I told Kim I'd be back. Almost done. Let the demolition begin!

And don't forget we're celebrationg our first birthday here at Elizabeth & Co. with a fun giveaway! You could win a fabulous personalized sign created just for you by Andrea at Signs by Andrea. And our giveaway involves cupcakes too! Be sure to enter here!

So how are your summer projects shaping up?
