Some Favorite Colors

In the last few posts, I've shared some thoughts from the "color experts" about the predicted color trends for 2011. I guess time will tell which colors really grow on us and which ones get lost in the shuffle.

I love trying new colors. Isn't it fun to crack open a fresh can of paint? But some colors are so successful, you know you'll use them again. Here are a few of my favorites.

My laundry room is one of my absolute favorite colors. It's a Duron paint color (available at Sherwin Williams) called Grazing Field. It has some punch, but is not overwhelming. And it contrasts so nicely with white. It feels very fresh. I used it in both my laundry room and my powder room.

And I even tried it on this cottage dresser and loved the result, although it looks much lighter out in the sunshine.

But my favorite colors are definitely shades of blue. My front door and shutters are painted in Bluecoat by Duron. I love the way this blue looks next to the crisp white trim (Duron's Crystal Ball) and the red brick. In the summer, it looks very patriotic.

My master bathroom is Duron's Still Creek. This is definitely a shade I will repeat in my next bathroom remodel. Yes, there is still one more to go!

I don't use spray paint very often, but last summer I was making chalkboards with old picture frames and found this wonderful shade of blue. I just had to try it on a piece of furniture. It's Rustoleum Painter's Touch in Slate Blue.

Grays are really popular right now. I recently painted a dresser and nightstand in Sherwin William's Network Gray. It's hard to find a true gray, but I really like this one. It may look a little purple in the photos, but definitely not in person.

And a nice pale gray is Duron's Stonewall that worked nicely on this table..

I also liked Winter Gray in Rustoleoum Painter's Touch. This piece was finished with a black glaze.

And this soft pretty Ballet Slipper Pink will never go out of style. It's from Martha Stewart at Home Depot. And you just can't beat an 8 ounce bottle for under $3.00. What a great way to try new colors!

I'll definitely be using these colors again!
How about you?
Are you sticking with some old favorites or searching for a new color in 2011?
