Furniture Fair: Vintage Inspired Wreath

Our local Arts Council hosts a fabulous fundraiser every year called The Festival of Wreaths. The event is a week long wreath auction that really kicks off the holiday season in our community. You saw the Country Christmas wreath over my mantle. I purchased that several years ago at the auction. All the wreaths are donated by members of the community. This year the girls at Elizabeth & Co. decided to create and donate a wreath. Of course, it was going to have to be a vintage inspired wreath!

We started with a totally plain, simple wreath that we knew we could enhance just the way we wanted. First up, we added some grapevine for texture.

Then we attached the wreath to a wooden window frame with a cute little window box. We knew from the beginning that we wanted the wreath to be attached to a window or maybe even a door. Karla had this frame hiding in her basement and we girls are all about using what we already have, so that was easy. Plus, we really loved the blue.

Then we cut up a variety of greens and berries to add more texture.

And since we all love burlap, that's what we used to line the window box.

Then we filled the window box with some darling vintage toys, again using what we had. Karla collects Christmas boxes and was willing to part with a few of those too. I think her exact words were, "Oh, ok." And shhh, don't tell her husband where we got some of the toys.

We all collect vintage ornaments, so we played with a varierty of options until we found a look we all liked. We ultimately decided to keep the color scheme really simple and only use silver ornaments and some silver bead garland from Susan's stash. Then Susan took the whole thing outside, sprayed it with adhesive and sprinked on lots of snow.
