More Spanish Moss

I see variations of sewing machine cabinets around all the time. I always check them out, but never find just the right one, until now. I just thought this one was really sweet. Not only do I love the cabinet, but the sewing machine is really cool too.

Just imagine what might have been created on this machine - a new dress for mom, clothes for the children, curtains for the windows.

All primed and ready for paint.

I really like the way my little chest of drawers turned out, so I decided to go with more Spanish Moss from the Martha Stewart paint line at Home Depot. Last time I wanted a soft look and used a white glaze. This time I went with chocolate brown - just a little brown paint mixed with my favorite Valspar Clear Glazing Mix. Just changing the glaze gives the color a completely different look.

And here she is all finished.

And I kept the sewing machine inside the cabinet, so you can open her top and find a nice surprise!

I love my real sewing machine. It was a Christmas present from my husband the first year we were married over 30 years ago. It still works like a charm! It's sitting on my kitchen table right now. I'm in the middle of a curtain project using drop cloths. But my sewing machine doesn't come in a fancy cabinet. It fits neatly inside what looks like a giant bowling ball bag and I store it in the guest room closet. My, how things change!
