Loving Yellow

I'm really loving the color yellow right now. Not just the mustard yellow that's been popular for so long, but a clean, fresh, sunny yellow. And a little bit of yellow mixes so easily with most other colors. Check out the covers of your favorite decorating magazines this summer - lots of yellow. I love the cover of the July/August issue of Country Living! Be sure to check out the beautiful featured kitchens with yellow cabinets.

I'm not quite ready for yellow kitchen cabinets, but his little book stand was the perfect candidate for a little dose of yellow. And spray paint made this a quick and easy transformation. Like most projects, it started out basic brown.

I sanded.

I primed.

And then it was time for paint.

After two coats of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch spray in glossy warm yellow, I mixed a little white paint into clear glaze. I brushed it on with a sponge brush and rubbed with a cloth. The result was a smooth finish with a nice soft look.

I think my books will be much happier resting here now!

And while I had the spray paint out, I decided to brighten up this sweet little plant stand. It was a boring shade of tan.

I love the little scalloped edges.

Much cuter, don't you think?

And because I just couldn't stop, a pair of wooden candlesticks went from brown to yellow in a matter of minutes.

Yes, much better!

So, what are you waiting for? Grab a can of sunshine and start painting. I guarantee it will make your day!
